People searching for freedom come to the U.S. because the United States is the most "free" Country and people in other countries can escape their home land and make their way to the U.S. so they may live their lives, Adapting to the U.S culture may be the hard part though.

    Question # 7
First the agencies look at what there skill levels are and look around to see where there is work for them in the field they are good in. Also they only have 30-90 days from the first day they arrive in the U.S to find the refugees a place to live. Lastly, the group the RIS finds places for the refugees to go, and live.

  3. How do the Refugee camps decide where to relocate the refugees?

They interview them to classify them as a refugee. They then go through another series of interviews to see if their story is true and see if they have any relatives resettled in other countries. They do that so they can maybe send them to the same country. Before they can go to the USA the DHS has to go through a security screening of the person. They also have to be medically screened. They can also be resettles by voluntary agencies.

  4. Answering Question Number 2:

Maine has so many refugees because they are not aloud to pick where they are being resettle. Unless the family can prove they have relatives in another state, they live where they are placed. Refugees are settled in low income areas which consist of gang territory, drugs, and other crimes & violence. Maine however, is a more peaceful state (in some sense) so when a refugee is placed in a low income area here, the good out weighs the bad. Also because of the amount of immigrants/refugees already living here, other immigrants/refugees move to Maine to be reunited with friends, family, and people of their own kind.

  5. Question 5:
Funding and donations remain in the primary cities they are relocated to. Secondary migrants don't receive if they have been in the U.S. for more than 8 moths. The Catholic Charities will give secondary migrants funding for up to 30 days after they have been in the U.S.

  7. 6.Why is it that people searching for freedom come to the U.S.?

One of the reasons that I know they come is because they don't have to change there religion and they have there own rights here. From the site it says that refugees are promised furnished housing, clothing, initial settlement funds, food stamps, medicare, and cash assistance. These are the reasons why people searching for freedom come to the U.S.
